A Community Plan reflects the goals
and policies of each individual community. Community
Plans have been adopted for areas with boundaries
that typically reflects established community planning
areas. Community Plan policies, in conjunction with
the Community Plan Land Use Plan, are intended to
comprehensive guide the physical development of a
community on a more detailed basis than the General
Plan. The Land Use Plan delineates the location, density
and intensity of housing, commercial, industrial,
public facilities and open space. Most of the existing
Community Plans are over 20 years old; several of
the Plans were adopted in the 1970's or early 1980's.
In 1999, the Board of Supervisors
embarked on a program to update the Community Plans.
The Cordova Community Plan got underway in January
2000. The Arden-Arcade Community Action Plan began
in December 2000 and the Carmichael Community Action
Plan is scheduled for start-up in September 2001.
