General Plan Update UPDATE SCOPE & TOPICS The following topics to be
addressed in the General Plan Update are as follows:
Commercial Corridors - A major focus of the General Plan Update will be the revitalization of key commercial corridors located throughout the unincorporated County.
Economic Development Element - A new Economic Development Element will be created to address a number of issues, including strategic objectives to address tax base expansion, business creation and retention, business expansion, and corridor redevelopment.
Holding Capacity - An
analysis of the General Plan's capacity to accommodate
future growth within the Urban Policy Area and
Urban Service Boundary of the General Plan.
Policy
Analysis - A
review of existing policies that need to be
evaluated based on being problematic for implementation
and inclusion of new programs.
Smart
Growth Planning - Incorporate
Smart Growth principles for the County and identification
of existing policies that are smart growth oriented.
Mature
Comunities - The creation of a new policy
in the General Plan's Land Use Element that provides tools and techniques
for the revitalization and continued enhancement of well-established
suburban communities in the unincorporated areas of the county.
