Welcome to the General Plan Update Website

The County’s General Plan is undergoing its first comprehensive update since it was last adopted in 1993. This update is necessary to plan for growth in the next planning cycle (2005-2030) as well as to address new emerging planning issues. Some of the topics to be addressed in the Update Project can be found here. Twenty six Board Workshops, twelve focus groups and ten large community workshops have been held to date. For information regarding these past events, including Board workshop staff reports, presentations, and focus group meeting notes, please visit the Report, Notes and Presentations and Community Participation web pages.

Draft General Plan Sent to Environmental Review

On May 30, 2007, the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution No. 2007-0698 to initiate the General Plan Update project and begin environmental review of the Draft General Plan. All changes to the Draft General Plan directed by the Board during public workshops held over the last six months have been incorporated into the Draft Plan. On June 28, 2007, the Draft Plan was transmitted to the Department of Environmental Review and Assessment (DERA) to begin the environmental review process.

Subsequent to this transmission, a small number of inaccuracies were identified within the Draft Updated General Plan that needed to be corrected before environmental analysis began.
