The Sacramento County Code Enforcement Division strives to achieve voluntary compliance with County Codes through a process of notification and education. Organized under three geographical teams that enforce housing, zoning and vehicle abatement, the Division’s ultimate goal is to improve and maintain property values and the quality of life Sacramento County residents, visitors and business owners expect and deserve. Where voluntary compliance cannot be achieved; however, the Division has procedures to address public nuisances including, but not limited to, the boarding of structures, removal of junk and rubbish, abatement of junk vehicles, civil and criminal citations, and demolition of dangerous buildings.
To achieve these goals, the Division works cooperatively with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, Municipal Services Agency, Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency (SHRA), County Building and Inspection Division, local fire districts, Department of Animal Care and Regulation, Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD), Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E), the Sacramento Rental Housing Association (RHA), and various
homeowner's and neighborhood associations, chambers of commerce, and business associations.
